- Sentara becomes a founding member of Virginia Coordinated Clinical Research Network
- Sentara is one of just 85 sites across the WORLD participating in a clinical trial investigating a medication that may slow down the progressive of brain degeneration in Alzheimer's Disease, led by Dr. Dan Cohen, Clinical Chief of Neurology for Sentara Medical Group.
- Dr. David Dexter, Sentara vascular surgeon and principal investigator, enrolled the very first patient in Virginia into the INFINITE-US clinical trial that studies the safety and efficacy of using an innovative, less invasive procedure to treat patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). This trial is being conducted at just five select locations in the United States, with Sentara Healthcare being the only site located in Virginia. Other states include New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and North Carolina.
- The Sentara Health Research Center represented the Eastern region of Virginia and partnered with the Virginia Department of Health along with Inova, Carilion, UVA and VCU in the statewide Coronavirus Serology Project. The study helped to identify the prevalence of COVID-19 exposure among Virginia adults.
