We would like for your stay at the hospital to go as smoothly as possible, from registration to discharge. The following information should help inform you about important details about your visit with us.
Your Arrival and Registration
When you arrive at a Sentara hospital, for your convenience you may pull up to the front of the hospital entrance. Several of our locations offer valet parking, or you are welcome to park in the parking garage or lots.
In the lobby, one of our concierge desk attendants will direct you as to where you should check in for your scheduled visit. We will make every effort to contact you prior to your scheduled visit to pre-register you in advance.
Important information to have at registration includes:
- A photo ID
- Your insurance information
- Emergency contact information
- Your personal medicine list
- Your Advance Medical Directive
While You Are Here
During your stay, we will make every effort to make you comfortable. From your spiritual care to your nutrition, we want you to feel welcome.
Your Rights as a Patient
We feel that all patients should be aware of their rights while in our care.
Please be aware of those rights.
Visitation
Having your friends and family around you is important to the healing process. Visiting guidelines differ by hospital, so please talk to your doctor or care provider about visiting hours and rules.
Your Nutrition
Your physician will inform us of any dietary restrictions you may have based on the procedure or treatment you are having. If you have additional specific dietary restrictions or requests, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Spiritual Care
At Sentara, we know that care of the spirit cannot be separated from physical care. Our chaplains are happy to meet with you at your request, regardless of your religious affiliation.
Patient and Family Web Pages
Because we want you to be able to easily reach out to your family and friends during these times, we offer access to patient and family web pages. These free, easy-to-use pages are provided through CaringBridge.org, a non-profit Internet service. We offer free wireless access for those who wish to connect to the Internet.
