Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy services are available for patients, families, physicians and staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including the emergency department. The chapel is located on the first floor, near the concierge. In the chapel you will find a prayer bowl where you may write and place your prayers and petitions.
Contact a chaplain Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. by calling 757-395-8132. If no response, please notify the nursing supervisor at 757-395-8033.
Interpreters
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital offers assistance for patients with limited English proficiency and patients who are hearing impaired. Please advise your nurse if you need assistance and they will contact the hospital's patient advocate or nursing supervisor.
Volunteers
Currently, more than 300 dedicated and reliable volunteers give their time and expertise to meet the needs of our patients. In addition to the clerical and clinical positions, volunteers at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and Sentara Independence also have the opportunity to interact with our patients through our programs such as Patient Advocacy, Volunteer Chaplaincy, Pet Therapy, Patient & Family Advisory Council and many others.
