If you're admitted to Sentara RMH Medical Center, your physicians will work with our team of highly qualified clinical dietitians to determine if you need a specialized nutrition plan. Our patients with cancer, diabetes and heart disease are among those who may require a specific diet. In addition, we will provide nutrition education to you and your family to ensure everyone understands the diet prescription and how it should continue after you're out of the hospital.Outpatient Nutrition Counseling
Sentara RMH offers individual nutrition counseling sessions with a physician referral. Our outpatient dietitians will work with you to develop realistic, sustainable goals to promote a long and healthy life. They understand that the field of nutrition is constantly changing and stay up to date with current research to provide the most informed care possible.

Diabetes Care
People newly diagnosed or those with history of diabetes, may benefit from meeting with a Sentara diabetes care and education specialist. Sentara offers diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) in group and one on one settings. DSMES will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to manage your diabetes and related conditions. Education is centered around your personal goals and life experiences and may include nutrition management, blood glucose monitoring, stress management and short- and long-term complication prevention.
Cancer Treatment
Good nutrition is an important part of care during cancer treatment. As a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition, the dietitian at the Hahn Cancer Center promotes optimal nutrition for all patients. Weight Loss Surgery
