The adult volunteer program is the foundation of Sentara Princess Anne Hospital Volunteer Services. Adult volunteers of all ages are an integral part of the hospital environment. From nursing units to the information desk, adult volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year to support the mission of the hospital to improve health every day.
Thank you for your interest in being an adult volunteer at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. Volunteer opportunities are available in clinical and non-clinical settings at both onsite and offsite hospital locations.
Adult volunteers can help in various capacities including:
- Gift Shop
- Inpatient Nursing Units
- Information Desk
- Pet Therapy Program
- Care Cart

Junior Volunteer Program at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital
Application deadline is April 12, 2024.
Junior Volunteers must be at least 14 years old on or before June 1 and complete the 8th grade by the end of June, with a “C” or better average.
Junior Volunteer Requirements
Applicants must comply with the requirements listed below.
- Complete a junior volunteer application.
- Interview with volunteer coordinator
- Complete employee health requirements
- Copy of most recent grades or report card (Due at the time of application submission)
- Copy of most recent grades or report card
- Attend a one-time orientation session
- Copy of childhood immunizations
- Annual training (e.g., confidentiality agreement) for returning junior volunteers.

Summer Junior Program
Sentara Princess Anne Hospital offers a structured summer junior volunteer program that aims to offer middle school and high school students an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital setting and learn about the healthcare environment from staff and other volunteers. There are a wide variety of volunteer positions available. The Program takes place June-August and has limited space available. All requirements listed above must be completed before consideration.
