Dr. Clinton Kemp, Director of Sentara Structural Heart Program, Cardiothoracic Surgeon with Sentara Cardiothoracic Surgeons
“What I love about our heart team is it combines experts in interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery to get the best possible outcomes for our patients. There are nuances of each case, and looking at a case from both an interventional and surgical perspective can help sort through the nuances of a difficult case.”
Dr. Kemp is a highly trained and experienced cardiothoracic surgeon with clinical interests that include all aspects of adult cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass grafting, valvular repair/replacement, aortic surgery, heart failure/mechanical circulatory support, transplantation, TAVR), as well as general and oncologic thoracic surgery. During his career, he has authored 32 peer-reviewed publications, nine book chapters and had 17 national meeting presentations. He is part of the implantation team involved in the clinical trial at the Sentara Heart Valve Center that implanted the first JenaValve Trilogy™ Heart Valve in Virginia as part of a clinical trial using the non-surgical valve replacement for the treatment of severe aortic regurgitation.
