Sentara Health names Melinda Hancock as new Chief Financial Officer
Sentara Health has named Melinda Hancock as the health system’s new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) beginning on January 1, 2025. Hancock will take over for current CFO Robert Broermann, who is retiring after more than 30 years with Sentara. Broermann will assist Hancock in the leadership transition and officially depart in April.
Hancock, Sentara’s current Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer, is a leader in finance and healthcare, with more than two decades of experience in hospital and health system finance and corporate accounting.
She joined Sentara in July 2021 as Chief Administration Officer, overseeing internal audit, compliance, legal services, privacy, supply chain, enterprise analytics, and growth.
In 2022, she assumed the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer to establish the system’s first transformation office, while leading the strategy, growth, integration, portfolio management, and project management departments.
Before joining Sentara, Hancock held senior financial leadership positions at VCU Health System, Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP, Bon Secours Health System (Virginia market), and Culpeper Regional Hospital. She also worked at Ernst & Young, and Deloitte.
