Teresa Edwards
Teresa Edwards oversees the five community hospitals in the Eastern Division, which includes Sentara Leigh, Sentara Princess Anne, Sentara Virginia Beach, Sentara Obici, and Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.
Prior Experience
Prior to her current position, Teresa served as the Interim President for Acute and Post Acute Care from May 2023 to May 2024. Additionally, Teresa had responsibilities as the Operations leader for the System COVID Operations and Task force from March 2020 until the Executive Order subsided in April 2024.
For four years prior, Teresa was the Regional President for the Peninsula, with responsibility for three Sentara hospitals (Sentara Obici, Sentara CarePlex, and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center), as well as Home Care, Hospice, Specialty Pharmacy, and Long-Term Care. Terrie originally joined Sentara in September of 2008 as the President of Sentara Leigh Hospital, a 250-bed hospital in Norfolk, Va.
Prior to her work at Sentara, Teresa was the Executive Vice President/Administrator at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. She led the growth of the hospital for three years post-opening. Teresa also has experience as a Practice Administrator for a large Cardiac & Thoracic surgical practice. She held positions of Associate Administrator (COO) for an HCA Hospital in Richmond, Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, as well as Williamsburg Community Hospital in Williamsburg.
