Dr. Banks received his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1983 after earning his bachelor’s degree in biology at Colby College in Waterville, ME. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency, followed by a fellowship in cardiology, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Banks is focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of many different heart and blood vessel conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart arrhythmia, high blood pressure, peripheral arterial disease and heart failure. He has been performing angiographic diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures since 1990. Dr. Banks partners with each of his patients to develop a personalized plan to provide the highest quality cardiovascular care.
Dr. Banks trained and served in the US Army. His medical career includes having served as an assistant professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He is currently an associate professor of clinical internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Dr. Banks is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians.
