Patient Parking
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital offers three types of parking for patients. Outpatient parking is located across from the River entrance and is free for those having same-day procedures. Short-term parking is offered for brief hospital visits. Long-term parking is normally for visits up to a day or more and for other family members. Please check with your physician or nurse for additional parking information.
Parking for Patients Staying More Than 24 Hours
Please call SNGH Security Department at 757-388-3510 (or dial 8-3510 from a hospital phone) when a patient drives their car to the hospital and is admitted. Security will move their vehicle to a special lot where it will remain until their discharge.
Parking for Patients Having Outpatient Procedures
When a patient arrives for an outpatient test, procedure or surgery and will not be staying over a 24-hour period, their vehicle should be parked in the outpatient lot (located behind SNGH across from the River entrance). Patients must be scheduled for an outpatient procedure to enter the outpatient lot.
Parking for Emergency Department Patients
The emergency department parking lot has limited parking that must be available for emergency patients.
When a patient drives to SNGH, parks in the emergency department lot, and is admitted to the hospital, the security department should be notified promptly by calling 757-388-3510 (or dial 8-3510 from a hospital phone). The vehicle will be moved to a special lot where it will remain until their discharge. If a visitor drives a patient to SNGH emergency department, they will need to obtain a pass from the emergency department security guard. If the patient is admitted to the hospital, his or her visitor will need to move their vehicle to one of the visitor lots to avoid being towed.
