About me
Dr. Tabakin earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School after receiving her bachelor's degree in Communication from Old Dominion University. She completed her residency in pediatric medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and then earned a master's degree in Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
As a pediatrician, Dr. Tabakin is specially trained to provide health care and management of problems and health issues that affect infants, children, and adolescents. She believes in creating a caring and sensitive relationship with her patients and their parents in order to communicate more easily with them about their health.
Since joining Sentara Pediatric Physicians, Dr. Tabakin (formerly Dr. Hurwitz) has married and started a family. She loves being a parent and enjoys the new perspective that parenting has given her on pediatrics. Dr. Tabakin has special interests in preventive medicine and mental health.
